No New Posts Tipping Point Action

Beginning in December, 2013, The CPCS Initiative is launching a new and comprehensive campaign called “Tipping Point Action: Citizen Participation in Times of Overcoming Unprecedented Challenges”.

The Constellations of Initiatives which are part of this campaign: Planetary Distress Signal Campaign; 1000 Community Visioning Initiatives Campaign; Preliminary Survey Development (in preparation for Community Visioning Initiatives); CPCS Campaigns Discussion Forum; Community Visioning Initiatives Clearinghouse; Neighborhood Learning Centers Clearinghouse; Community Good News Networks; Spiritual Friendships; and 24/7 Peace Vigils. (In addition, many initiatives and projects will be created or assisted by the above initiatives. More information on these campaigns/initiatives is provided in the introductory post "Tipping Point Action...").

The primary goal of these campaigns/initiatives is to encourage citizens from every variety of circumstances to help create, become involved, contribute to, and participate in one or more of the thousands of Community Visioning Initiatives (or similar stakeholder engagement/collaborative problem solving processes designed to maximize citizen participation) which will be needed to exponentially accelerate solution-oriented activity at this critical time.

The Press Kit has also been created as a way of sharing information about the Tipping Point Action Campaign with organizations and individuals working along similar lines.

The Tipping Point Action Campaign Coordinator, Stefan Pasti, welcomes comments, questions, suggestions, etc on how to improve this Press Kit—and such input can be contributed here--in the “Press Kit” section of the CPCS Campaigns Discussion Forum--or directly to him at stefanpasti@gmx.com

Letters and Other Contributions to Local Newspapers

No New Posts Letters and Other Contributions to Local Newspapers

There are two kinds of articles in particular which local newspapers could bring on, or do more of, which would represent a new and improved social contract with their readers, and provide many valuable community services:

a) articles about “seed” ideas, which may be most helpful to the local community they serve, but which need people support and financial support to realize their potential
b) articles about existing initiatives which are directly related to resolving some of the complex critical challenges of our times, as a way of helping residents learn more about how they can make best use of their time, energy, and financial support.

Invitation Packages for Board of Advisors

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Documents for Inviting People to Serve on Board of Advisors

The CPCS Initiative created a large document titled “Invitation Package for Possible Board of Advisors (at www.cpcsc.info )” as a way of demonstrating that there was more than enough evidence to require problem solving on a scale most of us have never known before—and more than enough resources to overcome the critical challenges of our times. People interested in forming local initiatives to carry out Community Visioning Initiatives (regardless of whether they are associated with the CPCS Initiative or not) can make use of CPCS Initiative resources in any way that will benefit their efforts. Hopefully, more and more people will come to appreciate the need for Community Visioning Initiatives at this critical time, and more such initiatives will start up. As these initiatives start up, documents which have proven most effective as “Invitation Packages for Board of Advisors” can be shared through the CPCS Campaigns Discussion Forum, a Community Visioning Initiatives Clearinghouse website, or through other key websites which work the best for sharing ideas.

CVI Clearinghouse

The sharing of Community Visioning Initiative experiences and Neighborhood Learning Centers experiences through clearinghouse websites would be a key (if we will use it) to making the most of learning experiences worldwide—and such sharing would surely contribute much to transforming the many challenges ahead into inspiring experiences of collaboration, peacebuilding, and community revitalization. The CPCS Initiative will be encouraging discussion on the priority goals for such clearinghouses, at the CPCS Campaign Discussion Forum.

Community Good News Networks

One of the Constellations of Initiatives (9 initiatives) which make up the Tipping Point Action Campaign is Community Good News Networks. Here is the description in the 5 page introduction to the Tipping Point Campaign:

Community Good News Networks can be created by bringing together elders and young people, and asking them to send notecards of gratitude and encouragement—and invitations to visit—to people who are making genuine contributions of good will in the local community or region. By this process, young people (who are in the process of becoming responsible citizens) can learn how to identify—and can experience first hand—the special qualities of inspiring role models in the community.

One of the Constellations of Initiatives (9 initiatives) which make up the Tipping Point Action Campaign is Community Good News Networks. Here is the description in the 5 page introduction to the Tipping Point Campaign:

Spiritual Friendships— As mentioned earlier, the treasured wisdom of religious, spiritual, and moral traditions can be most helpful as people seek out ways to have high quality of life while using much less material goods and ecological services. A Spiritual Friendships project can help people find mutual support and encouragement; and in communities where there are many diverse belief systems, spiritual friendships between people of different faiths and traditions can help the transition from a community separated into many factions to a community where there are many new forms of cooperation.

One of the Constellations of Initiatives (9 initiatives) which make up the Tipping Point Action Campaign is 24/7 Peace Vigils. Here is the description in the 5 page introduction to the Tipping Point Campaign:

There is, at this time, a profound need for forgiveness, reconciliation, and peace. Inviting representatives from as many religious, spiritual, and moral traditions as possible to maintain a local community 24/7 Peace Vigil (2 page description written in 2013) is one way to respond to this need. A key feature of such Peace Vigils would be an emphasis on silent forms of spiritual (or other) practices. These kind of Peace Vigils can have many positive benefits, including: a) the discipline required for each tradition to maintain a presence would sharpen the spiritual (and other) practices of many participants b) many people may recognize these Peace Vigil sites as inspiring places to reinforce their own silent spiritual (or other) practices c) much good fellowship and friendship could be created by such a project—fellowship and friendship which could result in more community-wide cooperation on service-oriented projects, and improved relations between people with different belief systems.

On the "Outreach for the Tipping Point Action Campaign" (at http://cpcsc.info/tpa-outreach/, see Section F), this writer describes a peace vigil he has initiated.

As a way of keeping a kind of journal, this writer will offer some of his thoughts and experiences here about his participation in the Sunday 9:00 am—11:00 am (GMT-5) Peace Vigil. If other participants, observers, and visitors offer thoughts and experiences also, then this space can become a “Community Journal” for this particular Peace Vigil.

Many local Community Visioning Initiatives and Neighborhood Learning Centers can be created through local crowdfunding campaigns. Again, details of successful campaigns would be valuable resources to share in a CPCS Discussion Forum, or a clearinghouse website.

There are now many different kinds of crowdsourcing campaigns. As these CPCS Campaigns progress, there may be a number of crowdsourcing campaigns which are related to creating “Planetary Distress Signal” documents for Neighborhood Learning Centers, and outlines for collaborative problem solving process which maximize citizen participation at the local community level. The CPCS Initiative is planning to start up two crowdsourcing campaigns in association with each of the two campaigns discussed in this paper. Results from these campaigns will be valuable resources for a CPCS Discussion Forum, or a clearinghouse website.
